HOW TO GET
to Peñalba de Santiago and Casa Elba
Peñalba de Santiago is linked to Ponferrada by two mountain roads of about 20 km that are covered in approximately 40 minutes. The traditional road crosses the valley of the river Oza, surrounded by centenary trees and numerous waterfalls. The new road starts from the town of San Cristóbal de Valdueza and climbs until reaching imposing views of the Aquilian mountains.
From Casa Elba we recommend taking a circular route when visiting Peñalba de Santiago. We believe that it is more comfortable to go up from Ponferrada along the new road (through San Cristóbal de Valdueza), and make the downward journey along the traditional Oza Valley road (through the towns of San Clemente and Valdefrancos).

In Peñalba it is possible to park comfortably in the free parking lot at the entrance.
Getting oriented in the town is very simple, it is small and its houses are all arranged very close together around the Mozarabic church.
Casa Elba is easily recognizable by the large holly that adorns its façade, as well as by the sign on the side.
